Washington, D.C.—January 31, 2013—The ACPA Governing Board voted unanimously to hold its first annual convention in Montreal, Canada in 2016.

This will be the first time in ACPA’s 92-year history that an ACPA Annual Convention is held outside of the United States. Plans to consistently adopt a more global approach to professional development for its approximately 7,500 individual members from 1,200 institutions of higher/tertiary education in 21 countries have been in the works for more than a decade.

The ACPA Commission for Global Dimensions of Student Development has been actively engaging ACPA members on global citizenship and leadership since 1961. The ACPA Journal of College Student Development, the highest ranked indexed student affairs journal in the United States, has appointed an International Research and Scholarship Co-editor since 2008. In 2012, the ACPA Governing Board adopted a Globalization Plan to further expand and deepen the association’s commitment to prepare higher/tertiary education professionals for their daily work.

The ACPA 2016 Montreal Convention from March 5-9 is further evidence of ACPA’s international approach to research, scholarship and practice to benefit its members and students.
