The ACPA Books & Media Board (BAM) Editors seek ACPA members who have a record of scholarship and expertise to evaluate book manuscripts and other media for publication.  The Books and Media Board solicits and approves book proposals and other media for publication through ACPA and its publisher.  Board members also serve as editorial consultants on completed manuscripts and media addressing theoretical and administrative issues in student affairs and college student learning

BAM Editorial Board members serve a three-year term, which begin and end with the annual convention each spring.  Each editorial board member is expected to review 2-4 book or media proposals per year and one completed book manuscript or media submission per year. In addition, attendance of at least two BAM Board meetings at the annual convention during the three-year term is expected.

Expertise and qualifications for BAM Editorial Board positions include:

  • Experience within higher education, particularly with college students and/or student affairs administration;
  • Experience authoring and/or reviewing manuscripts (e. g., book chapters, journal articles, multi-media);
  • Ability to provide clearly written, honest, direct, yet supportive feedback to colleagues;
  • Membership in ACPA.

We are seeking editorial board members who represent the broad diversity among ACPA members, including both practitioners and full-time faculty members, those who represent a range of student affairs functional areas, and those who hold social identities across the demographic spectrum.

In order to nominate an individual, please forward the name and complete contact information to the BAM Editor, Denise Collins at denise.collins@indstate.edu.  Self-nominations are welcome. If you would like to nominate yourself, please send a cover letter addressing the qualifications noted above, a curriculum vitae or resume, and at least two letters of support from colleagues who are familiar with your professional experiences and skills (and in particular, your professional writing and/or editing experience).  Send all materials electronically to Denise Collins at denise.collins@indstate.edu (preferred) or in hard copy to the address listed below.
