Dr. Lucy A. LePeau, Sarah F. Fernandez, and Ryan J. Davis of Indiana University Bloomington are the recipients of a $5,000 research grant from ACPA-College Student Educators International! The title of their study is Academic and Student Affairs Partnerships to Advance Diversity and Social Justice: A Content Analysis of Websites. Colleges and universities across the United States express the importance of creating inclusive educational environments and preparing students to live in a diverse society by creating intentional learning opportunities in the curriculum and co-curriculum. Institutions may work to achieve these goals by employing partnerships between Academic Affairs (AA) and Student Affairs (SA). However, little is understood about how institutions articulate and enact their commitment to diversity and social justice initiatives to internal and external audiences. One avenue institutions use to express their priorities, values, and mission are through institutional websites, which are publically accessible and utilized by various stakeholders. Therefore, the purpose of this exploratory content analysis is to examine how different institutions use their websites to construct and articulate diversity and social justice related partnerships between AA and SA. Findings from this study may be used to help understand how institutional change for diversity and social justice is pursued.
