Today, Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) held the first of many roundtable discussions on dealing with rape and sexual assaults on U.S. college campuses. These discussions included panelists who were former-student victims, campus safety and sexual assault experts, and sexual assault advocacy organization leaders. The Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act which went into effect 2012 and is enforced by the Department of Education was also discussed.

The goal of these roundtables is consistent with that of the ACPA Presidential Task Force. ACPA is the leading voice in scholarship and research concerning college students. As such, we have a responsibility to lead with an understanding of the complexities of sexual violence and comprehensive prevention strategies and responses to violence that demonstrate care and integrity.
