ACPA has been there for me from the beginning. From a graduate student to a mid-level professional, I have grown through the organization and created a network that grows stronger and more significant, both personally and professionally, each year. As a career services administrator, it is vitally important that I am affiliated with a higher education organization that recognizes career services as a knowledge community. Becoming a Directorate Member for the Commission for Career Services has allowed me to expand my understanding and awareness of career services and development overall and connected me with amazing colleagues that are nationally known in the field. Another perk of the commission is employer site visits at Convention where members visit organizations and learn about their internships, university relations, and recruiting best practices.
At ACPA, I can be myself. I am accepted for who I am, where I’ve been, and where I am going in my career. After Convention, I always feel revitalized and know that I am not alone; I have a network of professionals that I can rely on. It is because of ACPA that I have been in higher ed as long as I have and continue my passion of providing opportunities for students and alumni to connect with employers.
