Dear ACPA Members,
I am very pleased to announce several staff team changes and additions to support our growing ACPA community.
- Carlos Chavez, Senior Lead for Team Convene (Convention and all face-to-face events as well as collaboration with Team Belong (membership) and Team Impression & Impact (digital and other media)
- Ankur Ponda, Senior Lead for Team Belong (Membership & Recruitment)
- Cara Thunder, Team Lead for Development (Director of Development)
- Tim Arth, Senior Team Lead for Strategic Business and Resource Development
Carlos Chavez has accepted the position of Senior Lead for Team Convene. Carlos most recently served as the Director of Global Conferences and Events for the Metropolitan Community Churches. He has over fifteen years of experience in global conference and event planning. Carlos has served as a Senior Lead of Conventions in Canada and Mexico and led development of an on-line global community in 32 nations outside the United States
Ankur Ponda has accepted the position of Senior Lead for Team Belong. Ankur has demonstrated excellent support of our membership functions during the recent transition months while doing his other job as Team Lead, ACPA Convene. Ankur holds the Masters in Business Administration from Loyola University in Maryland. Before he came to ACPA he served as a Transportation Manager at Johns Hopkins University. Ankur will work with the new Senior Team Lead for Team Convene leading up to Convention to ensure not only a smooth transition but a great experience in Tampa.
Cara Thunder brings experience from her roles as Program Director at the American Indian Science & Engineering Society, Director of Health Programs at the American Indian Community House, and as a Grants Program Associate at Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Cara was a participant in the American Society of Association Executives 2012-2014 Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) class. Cara holds a Master of Public Administration from Pace University.
Tim Arth has most recently served as the Corporate Partnerships Manager for the Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) and the Association of College Unions International (ACUI). He has served in various roles for ACUI and CHSEMA since 2008. Prior to that time, he was a Resident Director at Loyola University Chicago. He holds a M.S. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Indiana University, and has completed courses at The Fund Raising School, IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
Our new team members will join us in the DC office for orientation and their “go” bags November 3-6, 2014. The next four months will be very full for all of us as we implement a new membership management systems, launch myPROfolio, help disseminate Agent of Change to campuses across the country, support the Partnership for Healthier America initiative, and roll out our new States Chapter program. We are also busily preparing for our Aspiring SSAO Institute, the Institute on Social Justice, and the Leadership Educators Institute in advance of Convention in Tampa.
