I've been a member of ACPA for more than 16 years, but only became actively engaged in leadership within the last 6 years. I’ve always been an ACPA member who dabbled in many aspects of the Association: I attended convention regularly, was both an employer and candidate at Career Central, presented programs and pre-conference workshops, and enjoyed the networks available through joining Committees, Standing Committees and State Divisions. It was through these amazing experiences that I found my professional voice and realized that I could contribute in meaningful ways to the field.
In 2010, I became the President of the DC chapter of ACPA and my involvement has skyrocketed since then with opportunities to serve on 3 convention planning teams (2011, 2012 and 2014) as well as in my most recent role as Director of Membership Development on the ACPA Governing Board. I owe my recent jump start in ACPA to signing up on an involvement form during the Convention Showcase fair and ACPA has been my professional home ever since! ACPA feeds my appetite for social justice advocacy, motivates me to continually contribute to the profession, and connects me with colleagues, research and scholarship that keep me performing at my personal best.
