We are happy to announce that ACPA is working together with sister associations (ACUHO-I, ACUI, ASCA, CACUSS, NASPA, NIRSA, and NODA), faculty from Miami University (Ohio), and partners in Ireland and the United Kingdom to produce an international study tour focused on student affairs. The tour will take place from May31-June 13, 2015. It will focus on four very distinct regions—Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, and Scotland—to develop an understanding of the structure and practice of higher education in the region and gain insight into the issues and strategic directions for higher education and student services/affairs in this historic region. Cities visited will include Dublin, Belfast, London, Aberdeen, and Edinburgh.

The study tour is designed specifically for student affairs practitioners at all levels and for graduate students in student affairs preparation programs who wish to:

  • Gain exposure to different cultures, examine the effects of culture on a country's system of higher education and student affairs.
  • Compare and contrast the issues facing higher education in Europe and their own country.
  • Explore the actual and potential effects of international exchanges of students, faculty, and administrators on higher education.
  • Develop a network of professional colleagues outside of your country.

The Registration Deadline is February 18, 2015. I would strongly encourage you to consider signing up. As I mentioned in my blog following the Second Global Summit on Student Affairs and Services, student affairs professionals are well placed to improve global understanding through work on campuses everywhere. The study tour will be a great opportunity to explore common goals and challenges with colleagues in Ireland and the United Kingdom.  On top of that you’ll get to visit some of the most fascinating cities in Europe!
