ACPA focuses on the advancement of higher education through the lens of social justice and advocacy. Through our Strategic imperative on Racial Justice and Decolonization, ACPA brings our values into practice, developing actionable goals and initiatives to promote equity, human dignity, and inclusion on college campuses around the world. The promotion of these values is not only our duty as an association but also our goal as representatives of student affairs professionals and the students they serve.
The values reflected in our work through the Strategic imperative on Racial Justice and Decolonization demonstrate our commitment to actionable efforts aimed at the development of institutions of higher education.
We will continue to lead by example through ACPA’s curricular approaches to hosting conferences, developing institutes, and providing resources to the community. We recognize that our actions influence the lives of others, and that to change the narrative in our field we must start with the ways in which we conduct ourselves and how we inform our members.
Through the initiative ACPA Speaks Up! we aim to take a stance on issues that impact the communities we serve and beyond. ACPA has invested time developing goals that include centering racial and social justice into all coalitions and projects, not solely those focused on these topics. We will continue to stand in solidarity with minoritized individuals and advocates to better serve the community. The ACPA family is encouraged to learn more about the issues facing minoritized individuals in academia through ACPA Video on Demand’s Racism in the Academy.
