From the President's Desk
Hello ACPA members and welcome to a new year, our 90th, and to our new webpage. In 1924, we began with only nine members as the National Association of Appointment Officers, and May Cheney as President. We have come a long way since then and I hope you will take the time this year to learn more about our history as an association. What you will find is that we have always been member driven; committed to issues of social justice, equity, career and professional development; and dedicated to making important contributions in research and scholarship.
The next ten years will be crucial to us as we decide what kind of an Association we want to be when we turn 100. Thus it seems particularly fitting that we celebrate our 90th birthday with a new webpage, by introducing you soon to the next Executive Director of ACPA, and by continuing to implement a strategic plan rich with both tradition and innovation.
I don’t believe much in New Year’s resolutions. But I do believe in continual improvement as an individual, professional, for my unit at UD, and for our Association. We can always get better and improve upon what we already do well. ACPA is committed to this continual growth as we look to our 100th anniversary. It is an exciting time in our history.
Visit this page often. What you will discover is that ACPA is much more than our Convention. While I look forward to seeing you in Indianapolis in a couple weeks, Convention is merely one way that ACPA can serve your needs. Whether you are a graduate student or someone who has been working with college students for 30 years, we have something for you that is cost-effective, innovative, technologically-savvy, engaging, and intelligent.
Enjoy the new website and thanks for being with us for the next ten years.
Dr. Kathleen G. Kerr, ACPA President
