ACPA-College Student Educators International joins our higher education and student affairs colleagues in mourning the loss of Marybeth Drechsler Sharp, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) on Tuesday, 5 June, 2018.
Marybeth has been an active member of ACPA since 2002 and was awarded the ACPA Foundation Diamond Honoree Award at our 2018 Annual Convention in Houston. Marybeth is also a past recipient of the ACPA Annuit Coeptis Emerging Professional Award and the Missouri College Personnel Association Outstanding New Professional Award. Marybeth was a frequent presenter at ACPA events including Convention and the Student Affairs Assessment Institute.
The CAS offices were located within the ACPA offices at the National Center for Higher Education until 2015. ACPA’s International Office and our members will deeply miss our unofficial staff member. Marybeth was quick with a smile, and always willing to help a colleague.
We will celebrate Marybeth’s life and lasting legacy with a Memorial Service at our Annual Convention in Boston on Monday, March 4, 2019. More information will follow in the spring about the time and location of the service.
Marybeth loved the U.S. national parks, and donations in her name are encouraged to the National Park Foundation.
