The Pan African Network (PAN) welcomes you to the #PANFam!
By willingly opting into this Network, you are signing up to be a part of a group of engaged scholar practitioners who strive to create community with, advocate for, and highlight the work of Black student affairs professionals within ACPA and across the profession. PAN is a space where authenticity is lived, wholeness is experienced, and Blackness thrives.
As members of PAN, we welcome your most authentic and unapologetic selves as we work towards building, creating, and sustaining our village. In this space - physically and digitally - your life, existence, experiences, and work matters. At convention and throughout the academic year, our sole purpose is to celebrate you - wholeheartedly, deeply, and fully.
Through the Core Values of PAN – Collaboration, Advocacy, Professional Development, Educational Leadership, Fellowship & Mentoring – we are offering opportunities that
(1) honor and acknowledge the various identities we each hold with our Blackness and
(2) support the ongoing growth and development of us as scholar practitioners in Student Affairs and Higher Education broadly.
We encourage you to share your gifts, talents, and abilities for the growth of the network through either serving and adding value to the work or donating to our causes.
SERVE
As of June 2019, we have been working diligently to identify and structure volunteer opportunities across PAN. Under the leadership of our Inaguaral Volunteer Engagement Chairs, during the year we will be advertising open calls for volunteer opportunities such as:
- PAN Scholars (closed) - Dedicated to the development, dissemination, and advancement of knowledge which seeks to serve the Pan African community throughout the year
- Convention Program Reviewers (closed) - PAN annually looks for program reviewers that support our mission and value the intersectional experiences of the Black community
- Award Reviewers (upcoming) - PAN annually recruits volunteers to assist with reviewing nominations for PAN Awards.Reviewers will be provided with timelines for review and guidelines on how to review nominations.
CULTIVATE
Additionally, please stay tuned to our website and social media for open calls to Join the Foundations Mentoring Program as a mentor or mentee, to Fellowship with us at regional meetups and PAN-sponsored convention events, or to Apply to join the directorate board as positions become available.
GIVE BACK
#PANning Campaign - Year 3
The #PANningCampaign is a Pan African Network Fundraiser throughthe ACPA Foundation.
With an increase in demand for a space where PAN members are able to be in community and a decrease in institutional funding and support, PAN steps in.
In the spirit of our Core Values, Year 3 of our PANNING campaign will help us support the present and future of our field.
• Between 9/25 and 11/15 - all proceeds collected will go toward sponsoring an Undergraduate Student(s) from one of our local Nashville partner schools to participate in ACPA’s NEXTGEN 2020! (Use Memo/Reference - Type PAN NEXT GEN so we know how to designate the funds)
• From 11/16 to the end of our fundraiser in February - all funds raised will continue our investment in our community by helping members mitigate the costs of attendance to ACPA 2020.
PAN Members and Undergraduates from Partner Schools will have the opportunity to apply for scholarships prior to convention and a committee will review applications.
Donate to our Year 3 #PANningCampaign that raises money to support and offset convention expenses for undergraduate attendees and PAN members. We are hopeful that you will donate... Support the Erica Holloman Foundation and Education on Triple Negative Breast Cancer
Yearly, PAN remembers a dear friend and colleague - Erica J. Holloman. Erica was an active member of PAN and ACPA and served our profession in numerous capacities including: Residence Director, Program Director of Graduate Student Affairs & Multicultural Programming, and Director of Student Life. Prior to her transition, Erica Valiantly battled Triple Negative Breast Cancer while remaining committed to the development and care of students she served.
We encourage you to make this experience your own and allow PAN to be everything it can be for you, with you, and because of you.
