CSEP Directorate Elections


This year CSEP will be electing the following directorate role(s):

Elections will take place November 20 - December 8, 2017.  All current CSEP members are eligible to vote and will receive notice from ACPA once elections open within instructions for voting.

Below are all the positions that will be open this election cycle.  To nominate yourself or someone you think may be interested, go to http://www.myacpa.org/nominate-serve-commission.  After nominations close on October 13, 2017, nominees will be contacted and asked to formally accept the nomination should they be interested.  


Vice Chair for Operations-Elect

  • The term of Vice-Chair for Operations is a three year term; year one is spent as Vice-Chair Elect, year two and three as Vice-Chair.
  • Responsibilities and duties:
    • Attend all directorate meetings and conference calls both during and outside of Convention.
    • Communicate regularly with CCSEP Chair regarding progress and feedback.
    • Stay abreast of current topics and find ways for CSEP to distribute information about these topics to our membership in a timely manner.
    • Coordinate all on-boarding, training, and formal transitions for newly elected directorate members.
    • Ensure CSEP historical records and operating documents are up to date and stored appropriately.
    • Oversee the CSEP directorate election cycle and serve as the CSEP elections coordinator when needed.
    • Examine and develop CSEP’s fiscal resources and coordinate fundraising as necessary.
    • Facilitate the scheduling of monthly directorate conference calls in conjunction with Chair.

Vice Chair for Research, Scholarship, and Practice-Elect

  • The term of Vice-Chair for Research, Scholarship, and Practice is a three year term; year one is spent as Vice-Chair Elect, year two and three as Vice-Chair.
  • Responsibilities and duties:
    • Attend all directorate meetings and conference calls both during and outside of Convention.
    • Communicate regularly with CCSEP Chair regarding progress and feedback.
    • Keep the membership abreast of new and emerging scholarship and research findings related to campus safety and emergency preparedness.
    • Coordinate and guide efforts to develop research projects/white papers surrounding topics of interest to the Commission, and of use to the overall ACPA membership.
    • Locate or generate resources related to topics of concern for ACPA/Commission members (henceforth referred to as CCSEP topics), and  disseminate information on those resources through the Commission communication channels.
    • Identify people participating in the scholarly conversation around CCSEP topics and help recruit them as Commission members or presenters.
    • Develop new and innovative ideas for the Research, Scholarship, and Practice area to pursue.
    • Coordinate with other Vice Chairs, when appropriate, to assist with the responsibilities of their areas.

Vice Chair for Communications & Outreach-Elect 

  • The term of Vice-Chair for Communications & Outreach is a three year term; year one is spent as Vice-Chair Elect, year two and three as Vice-Chair.
  • Responsibilities and duties:
    • Attend all directorate meetings and conference calls both during and outside of Convention.
    • Communicate regularly with CSEP Chair regarding progress and feedback.
    • Stay abreast of current topics and find ways for CSEP to distribute information about these topics to our membership in a timely manner.
    • Maintain the directorate and membership listservs. 
    • Maintain social media accounts for the Task Force (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, etc).
    • Liaison with ACPA’s International Office Web & Community Services Manager.
    • Serve as webmaster and maintain and update all Campus Safety and Emergency Preparedness web pages.
    • Publicize the call for sponsored programs and sponsored program reviewers.

Vice Chair for Membership-Elect

  • The term of Vice-Chair for Membership is a three year term; year one is spent as Vice-Chair Elect, year two and three as Vice-Chair.
  • Responsibilities and Duties:
    • Attend all directorate meetings and conference calls both during and outside of Convention.
    • Communicate regularly with CCSEP Chair regarding progress and feedback.
    • Stay abreast of current topics and find ways for CCSEP to distribute information about these topics to our membership in a timely manner.
    • Membership Development Responsibilities:
      • Develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment and involvement plan.
      • Complete outreach to solicit and welcome new entity members.
      • Collaborate with other directorate members and the ACPA Involvement Team to increase involvement opportunities for members, including planning for the intentional recruitment of future directorate members.
      • Partner with the Vice Chair of Communications and Outreach to build social media followers and distribute information to current and future members.
    • Awards Coordinator and Recognition Duties:
      • Serve as CCSEP’s Awards Coordinator to oversee the annual CCSEP Awards and Recognition process in conjunction with the ACPA Awards Chair.
      • Develop the awards timeline, manage criteria, solicit award nominations, and oversee the selection process for all CCSEP awards.
      • Market award recipient information utilizing the website, social media, CCSEP listserv, and in-person Convention opportunities.
      • Develop ongoing and Convention-specific recognition efforts for current directorate members, and outstanding member volunteers.

Vice Chair for Professional Development-Elect  

  • The term of Vice-Chair for Professional Development is a three year term; year one is spent as Vice-Chair Elect, year two and three as Vice-Chair.
  • Responsibilities and Duties:
    • Attend all directorate meetings and conference calls both during and outside of Convention.
    • Communicate regularly with CSEP Chair regarding progress and feedback.
    • Stay abreast of current topics and find ways for CSEP to distribute information about these topics to our membership in a timely manner.
    • Compile and maintain a list of current external agencies, partners, and resources relating to campus safety and emergency preparedness to be publically shared on the CSEP website.
  • Professional Development Responsibilities:
    • Become familiar with processes for hosting and facilitating professional development opportunities through ACPA.
    • Offer tangible professional development and skill building opportunities to the Campus Safety and Emergency Preparedness (CSEP) Commission, the ACPA community, and the field at large.
    • Minimally implement 1-2 professional development opportunities outside Convention each year (i.e. webinars, twitter chats, conference calls, podcasts, etc).
  • Sponsored Program Chair Duties:
    • Maintain regular communication with the ACPA national programs committee, specifically the Sponsored Programs Chair.
    • Attend training during Convention to learn about the process and requirements for soliciting sponsored programs.
    • Market and solicit sponsored program submissions, pre-conference opportunities, and alternative educational sessions for the ACPA Annual Convention.
    • Recruit and select program reviewers to evaluate and provide feedback about CSEP’s sponsored program selection.
    • Select the programs for CSEP to sponsor in conjunction with the Chair.
    • Serve as a liaison to selected sponsored program presenters leading up to Convention.
    • Coordinate sponsored program promotion, moderation, and appreciation prior to and during Convention.
