Chair

Vice Chair for Research & Scholarship

  • Collaborate with the Vice Chair of Convention Programs to select Sponsored Programs
  • Serve on Conference on College Men Committee and other Professional Development related committees
  • Initiate any special programs, or offerings for convention or for ACPA E-Learning
  • Coordinate the SCMM Briefs Program
  • Liaison with Clusters for Program ideas

Vice Chair for Convention Programs

  • Coordinate the Sponsored Program Review Process
  • Collaborate with the Vice Chair for Research and Scholarship to sponsor Programs for the National Convention
  • Coordinate the Ancillary Space requests
  • Plan the Convention Showcase Activities
  • Plan for participation in Convention Colleagues and Next Generation

Vice Chair for Marketing & Communications

  • Provide recognition to Sponsored Programs presenters and coordinate SCMM Awards Process
  • Design/Develop SCMM publications (Briefs, Convention handouts, etc.)
  • Send out monthly E-Newsletters (with submissions of content from all)
  • Maintain website
  • Order and plan for any promotional items or other marketing materials for the Coalition

Vice Chair for Interest Clusters & Awards

  • Serve as primary liaison to the SCMM Interest Clusters finding ways for them to be further involved in SCMM business
  • Coordinate the SCMM awards process
  • Actively market and promote the Interest Clusters and SCMM awards
  • Hold regular conference calls with Interest Cluster Coordinators and/or with specific Interest Clusters

Research & Scholarship Coordinators

  • Coordinators assist their Vice Chair in carrying out Coalition Business.

Convention Programs Coordinators

  • Coordinators assist their Vice Chair in carrying out Coalition Business.

Marketing & Communications Coordinators

  • Coordinators assist their Vice Chair in carrying out Coalition Business.

Interest Clusters & Awards Coordinators

  • Coordinators assist their Vice Chair in carrying out Coalition Business.

Interest Clusters
Interest Clusters are sub-groups of the SCMM that are formed around specific topics or issues.  These clusters allow members to focus on specific areas of interest to them.  The SCM Directorate also aims to provide opportunities for clusters to showcase and learn about their interest area.  They are lead by a Cluster Coordinator who acts as a point of contact for the group. 

Interest Clusters

Interest Clusters are a great way for one to get involved with the SCM without taking on too much commitment or responsibility.  In an effort to capitalize on the talents and strengths of the SCM membership, Interest Clusters are sub-groups of the SCM that are formed around specific topics or issues of interest to the current members.  These areas are chosen on a yearly basis during the ACPA Annual Convention, but new groups could develop at any point during the year.

The SCM Directorate also aims to provide opportunities for clusters to showcase and learn about their interest area.  They are lead by an Interest Cluster Coordinator who acts as a point of contact for the group.  This is an appointed position that is based on volunteer interest during the ACPA Annual Convention.

Potential ideas for Interest Cluster involvement can include:

  • Propose a program within their area to be co-sponsored by the SCM for the Annual Convention
  • Review program proposals to be co-sponsored by the SCM for the Annual Convention
  • Solicit and provide SCM Briefs and Newsletter articles
  • Provide feedback to the SCM regarding current issues and/or trends relevant to your Interest Cluster
  • Create and host a web-based educational opportunity for SCM members and/or ACPA members
  • Provide resources related to your Interest Cluster for the SCM website
  • Host a conference call on issues and/or trends relevant to your Interest Cluster
